Oprah Winfrey (born January 29, 1954) is an American television host, producer, and philanthropist, best known for her self-titled, multi-award winning talk show, which has become the highest-rated program of its kind in history.

Oprah Winfrey's first name was supposed to be Orpah, after Ruth's sister-in-law in the Bible, but it was misspelled Oprah on her birth certificate.

Oprah was raised on a farm by her grandmother, Grandma Hattie Mae.

Oprah suffered from abuse and was raped by her cousin, uncle, and a family friend in a period of 8 years.
